Simply put, they are everywhere! Even with all the rain in Ireland they manage to somehow survive! Just yesterday we stumbled upon another 20 or 30 baby spiders crawling around inside my window. A visit to the village reception didn’t do any good, as no bug spray was to be found there. They instead asked “if there were any guys around”, in case I was scared to do the squishing myself. One of my housemates had a bottle of surface cleaner (it claimed to kill bacteria and viruses…maybe spiders too?) so I used that, along with a flip-flop and paper towels to stop the infestation. I also tried to ward off a few larger spiders outside my window with surface cleaner (while trying to avoid spraying students walking below), but that did little good. It looks like the battle between them and I will continue….
