Irish Adventures ‘R’ Us

The Really Expensive Wax Museum

On their website, Madame Tussuad says she’ll let you see her wax creations for a discounted rate after 5:00pm (since it closes at 6:00pm).  When we got to the ticket counter the lady knew nothing of this deal and we ended up paying full price for the last hour.  Because of this we ran through pretty quickly to the end and then came back to see what we missed at first.

There was one soccer ball that we were supposed to kick into a target on a big screen.  Both of us tried it, unsuccessfully, and still aren’t sure what its purpose was.  Sadly, there was no Oprah model there so Katherine had to settle for Princess Diana.

Straddling the Boundary

Our next stop was the Royal Observatory out in Greenwich.  This is where the G in GMT comes from since the Prime Meridian Of the World is referenced from this place.  It was a bit of a climb to the top but the view was pretty good – except it was cloudy when we were there.

I’m a big fan of directions so I was quite excited to see this line from which all other North/South lines are referenced.  Katherine isn’t a big fan of directions and derived more enjoyment from making fun of this big line.  The pictures below are proof of this fact.

I got my revenge, though.  After the climb to the top Katherine was rather thirsty and spent her hard-earned money on a bottle of water.  When asked “sparkling or still” she decided that “still” water sounded gross and went for the “sparkling” water – which is, of course, carbonated water.  And it’s quite nasty.
