If you haven’t been inside Westminster Abbey you should add it to your list of things to do.\u00a0 We couldn’t take pictures inside so, sadly, all you get to see is the outside.\u00a0 The audio tour inside is very good, though, and you could easily spend four or five hours looking at all the graves and tombs.<\/p>\n
As soon as we rounded the last corner toward the Abbey the first word I thought of was “whoa.”\u00a0 Katherine said the same thing shortly thereafter.\u00a0 The audio tour told us all about the kings, queens, lords, ladies, etc. who’ve been buried here and some of the stories associated with them.\u00a0 Best of all, you can walk right up to the tombs (some of which are 500+ years old); there are no ropes to keep the tourists back.<\/p>\n
We saw the graves of Handel, Newton, Faraday, Darwin, Ralph Vaughn Williams, Rudyard Kipling, and many others I’d heard of but didn’t know much about.\u00a0 You can also walk right up to the coronation chair on which every English king and queen has been crowned since 1066.<\/p>\n
I could go on.\u00a0 Suffice it to say that this was the most impressive building I’ve ever seen.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
